Gotham Park is the nonprofit grassroots organization reopening, revitalizing and reactivating the forgotten spaces under the Manhattan side of the iconic Brooklyn Bridge. Working with community partners and New York City agencies, we are creating a new community-led, world-class public space that nurtures connection, resilience, joy, discovery and wonder.
Just a few years ago, these spaces sat behind locked gates. Today, nearly four acres beneath the Brooklyn Bridge are alive with community, culture, wellness, learning, and play. In 2025, Gotham Park reopened the iconic Big Banks, welcomed more than 22,000 attendees to free events and programs, and continued transforming once-overlooked infrastructure into a vibrant public destination for connection and everyday civic life.
