ORVIL MINOTT

Environmental Engagement Coordinator

Born in Jamaica, Orvil immigrated to the United States in 1987 and has built a career working with youth and intergenerational communities in the non-profit sector.  Orvil ran the Prospect Park Alliance Youth Council from 2001 to 2009, and has worked with the Lower East Side community since 2016.  In 2024, Orvil worked with Hamilton-Madison House youths and the residents of Alfred E. Smith Houses to create the Raising Haven Community Garden.  Orvil believes advocacy and access to community shared spaces is key to a healthy community both physically and mentally, and is focused on youth and community engagement in his role as Gotham Park’s Environmental Engagement Coordinator.
